The Hydrology, Geology and Soils of Georgia

Course Content:
- A field course to study the physical environment of Georgia
- We explore the diverse geology, soils, and surface and subsurface hydrologic processes within the state.
- We travel to all of the physiographic areas of the state, including the Upper and Lower Atlantic Coastal Plain, the Dougherty Plain of Southwest Georgia, the Upper and Lower Piedmont, the Blue Ridge Mountains, and the Ridge and Valley Provinces of North Georgia.
- We visit mines, farms, forests, wetlands, rivers, lakes, and estuaries to understand the interactions between human activities and the environment.
Course Details:
- Schedule => 2005 Maymester
- Orientation => Monday, May 16, at 9am in Forest Resources, Building 4, Room 215.
- Expenses => The three-week cost is $300 for food and lodging
- Signup => We have space for only 15 students. Registration requires a Permission of Department. Contact Professor Todd Rasmussen for registration information
- Lodging => Primitive - we are in barracks for part of the trip and camp out the rest - bring a sleeping bag, plus a tent if you have one
